EDITOR'S NOTE: Excerpts from Jon Peddie’s Market Watch are available on request. Jon Peddie Research Announces IDTV ConferenceJPR’s new conference to address the science and technology of Integrated Digital Television Slight gains and losses in market share, Intel still number one overall and in notebook, Nvidia still number one on the desktop, AMD results mixed. TIBURON, CA—February 7th 2008—on Peddie Research (JPR), the industry’s leading research and consulting firm for graphics and multimedia, today announced the upcoming IDTV Conference, to be held in Taipei, Taiwan on May 14. JPR’s IDTV Conference is the only industry conference to focus solely on the semiconductors and software inside the TV. The stakeholders represented at the conference will include companies with expertise in silicon tuners, software, video decompression, video processing, and audio technologies. “The pace of change in the TV industry is staggering,” said Henry Choy, vice president of TV and Video Research of Jon Peddie Research in Tiburon, California. “At the same time, the ground-breaking evolution in the TV industry is rolling out in waves as standards are being implemented differently across world markets. The requirements of regions are different; the participation of world governments are also different. Never was an inflection point so difficult to predict or negotiate.” For companies in the International TV industry, the problem is far from theoretical. How do you design TV components for disparate markets without sacrificing profitability? JPR’s IDTV Conference is the first conference to bring together the companies grappling with these challenges so they can address the topic integrated digital TV in a conference setting.
