Samsung announces GDDR7

Next-gen high-bandwidth RAM for games, AI, and pro graphics.

Jon Peddie

Samsung Electronics achieved a groundbreaking milestone with the development of Graphics Double Data Rate 7 (GDDR7) DRAM. Expected to be integrated into next-gen systems for key customers this year, GDDR7 sets new speed standards. It offers an impressive 1.5TB/s bandwidth, 1.4 times faster than GDDR6, with per-pin speed up to 32Gb/s using Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM3) signaling. Samsung emphasizes its 20% higher energy efficiency compared to GDDR6, catering to power-conscious applications. Advanced packaging technology with high thermal conductivity minimizes heat generation and enhances stability during high-speed operations. Samsung’s GDDR7 leads the way for diverse graphic-intensive applications. Samsung Electronics announced the
