Adobe has created a pop up gallery at 550 Sutter St. in downtown San Francisco. The storefront is designed to be an inviting space for people to come in and play with Adobe’s products and to experience new technology including glasses-less 3D screens from Alioscopy. The gallery will provide workshops and tours while it’s open. Check out the new gallery here.

Qualcomm Acquires Gesture Recognition Assets

Qualcomm Incorporated announced that it has acquired assets from a leader in the gesture recognition field, GestureTek. The acquisition gives Qualcomm ownership of certain intellectual property assets related to gesture recognition, as well as key engineering resources. Gesture recognition technology will be integrated into Qualcomm’s current and next-generation Snapdragon processors.

Comcast teams with Elemental on video

Comcast has tapped Elemental to create the video available to its subscribers on XfinityTV.com and to power its Xfinity TV app for Apple devices. Comcast will use Elemental technology for video processing for Comcast's Xfinity platform; Elemental will take a file, create 18 output files, and deliver it to the file system that handles DRM processing. Bayer will use a wide variety of Autodesk products in the design, construction, and operation of chemical and pharmaceutical plants worldwide. Bayer Technology Services has signed an enterprise agreement with Autodesk for the global use of a variety of software products and suites. Read more here.

HTC to acquire S3 Graphics

HTC is set to purchase S3 Graphics from Via for $300M. With the acquisition HTC will obtain S3 Graphics' portfolio of patents and pending applications however "HTC will provide a perpetual license of the S3 patents to Via," according to HTC CFO Winston Yung. S3 received a favorable patent ruling on July 1, 2011 which might have served as a catalyst for the HTC move. HTC enjoyed record revenue of $1.55B in June and is looking to unseat RIM as the world's no.4 Smartphone provider.
