Nvidia To Unveil Graphics Chip Friday As AMD Battle Heats Up

Nvidia Corp. is expected to launch Friday the first chip using its next-generation graphics technology, bringing a big leap in performance from its current products and heating up a rivalry with Advanced Micro Devices Inc. Despite AMD's early lead, delays at chip manufacturers offered Nvidia a reprieve from a drop in market share. In the fourth quarter, Nvidia increased its position in the desktop GPU market, raising its market share to 64.8% from 62.1% a year ago, according to Jon Peddie Research.
