The age of the AI Copilot+ PC has officially begun, as Asus began offering its first Copilot+ PC, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X series processor. The Vivobook S 15, available now with the Snapdragon X Elite processor, is thin (0.58 inches) and light (3.13 pounds), making it extremely mobile. Under the hood, it features a 45 TOPS neural engine thanks to the Snapdragon X’s dedicated Hexagon NPU, enabling it to handle on-device AI processing. The Vivobook S 15 costs just under $1,300. The optional Snapdragon X Plus version is priced at $200 less; preorders begin now.

Following the Microsoft pre-developer conference in May, where Microsoft debuted its Copilot+, the attention on AI PCs, particularly those powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite processor, grew significantly. At the event, OEMs, including Asus, showed off Copilot+ PCs and notebooks powered by the Snapdragon X series processors, with availability cited to start midyear. Well, it’s now midyear, and Asus has rolled out the Vivobook S 15 (S5507), its first Copilot+ PC, which is powered by the Snapdragon  X Elite processor. A version with the Snapdragon X Plus can be preordered.

The Vivobook S 15 is built for AI processing. It features a 45 TOPS neural engine for fast, on-device AI, compliments of the Snapdragon X series processor with its dedicated Hexagon NPU. On the graphics side, it has a Qualcomm Adreno GPU. The laptop boasts integrated advanced features such as Windows Studio Effects for enhanced lighting and noise removal during video calls in portrait mode, and the Asus AiSense Camera with AI-powered security, resulting in the adaptive lock feature auto-locking when users walk away and auto-unlocking upon their return. It also has Live Captions for real-time subtitles and Cocreator for transforming sketches into finished artwork. Vivobook S 15 is also the first device to feature the Asus-exclusive StoryCube digital asset management app, which uses AI to sort, edit, manage, and export captured raw files.

While the Vivobook S 15 packs a powerful punch, it is extremely mobile, thanks to its lightweight (3.13 pounds), sleek (0.58 inches thick—or, rather, thin) design.

The display on the Vivobook S 15 is just as impressive as its processing power. Its 15.6-inch, 3K (2880×1620) OLED display has a 16:9 aspect ratio, 120 Hz refresh rate, and 0.2ms response time. The laptop offers 100% DCI-P color gamut, up to 600 nits peak brightness, a color depth of up to 1.07 billion colors, a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, and is DisplayHDR True Black 600-certified.

The AI laptop comes with 16GB LPDDR5X onboard memory (upgradable to 32GB) and 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD storage (upgradable to 512GB). The Vivobook S 15 also delivers connectivity speeds up to 5.8 Gbps using Wi-Fi 7, enabled by the Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 system for fast downloads and smooth streaming.

An FHD camera with IR function supports Windows Hello for secure access to the laptop. The keyboard features a dedicated Copilot key for AI assistance and accessing Windows AI-powered tools in just a single second, says Asus.

There are seven I/O ports:

  • 2× USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
  • 2× USB 4.0 Gen 3 Type-C support display/power delivery
  • 1× HDMI 2.1 TMDS
  • 1× 3.5mm combo audio jack
  • 1× microSD card reader

A 70Wh, high-capacity Li-ion battery provides 18 hours of continual use.

The Asus Vivobook S 15 with Snapdragon X Elite processor is available now for just under $1,300. Optionally, the version with the Snapdragon X Plus processor can be preordered now for approximately $1,100.
