Ray Reconstruction, a feature added to Nvidia RTX GPUs, uses Tensor AI cores and RT cores to enhance ray-tracing quality and performance. This AI-powered neural renderer improves image quality by replacing hand-tuned denoisers with an Nvidia-trained AI network, generating better pixels between sampled rays. DLSS 3.5 incorporates this technology, enhancing games like The First Descendant, Payday 3, and Riven, all supported by the new GeForce Game Ready Driver.
Ray Reconstruction is a feature that was added to Nvidia RTX GPUs to leverage the GPU’s Tensor AI cores with RT cores to improve the ray-tracing quality and performance. It is part of an enhanced AI-powered neural renderer that improves ray-traced image quality for GeForce RTX GPUs by replacing hand-tuned denoisers with an Nvidia supercomputer-trained AI network that generates higher-quality pixels in between sampled rays. DLSS 3.5 introduces ray reconstruction technology designed to improve the way ray-traced elements look in games.
Without denoising, a ray-traced image would appear to have a layer of white or black noise from the missing rays.
The game developers seem to like what it does for their games. As a result, several of them have announced adoption of the technology.
The First DescendantandPayday 3are using DLSS 3.5, and a new GeForce Game Ready Driver is now available for them. Riven is using DLSS 2.
The First Descendant is a free, third-person cooperative action-RPG shooter powered by Unreal Engine 5 that will be available July 2 with Nvidia DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction, ray tracing, Nvidia Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing (DLAA), and Nvidia Reflex, a technology designed to reduce input lag and improve gaming performance by minimizing system latency between devices and the PC/gaming monitor.
Payday 3’s new Boys in Blue update features the inclusion of Nvidia’s DLSS 3 and Nvidia Reflex. At 4K max settings, DLSS 3 multiplies frame rates by 2×. And with Reflex, system latency is lowered by 55%, making gameplay more responsive.
Riven, the 1997 sequel to Myst, has been remade by Cyan Worlds and uncovers a story of intrigue and betrayal as you solve intricate puzzles in a fully 3D real-time environment. Built from the ground up with new content, the new Riven offers free movement, captivating visuals, and a deeper story. Riven supports DLSS 2 to accelerate performance.
Tribes 3: Rivals by Prophecy Games is a team-based first-person shooter featuring jet packs, skiing, and class-based warfare. Capture the enemy’s flag while defending your own, choosing unique classes to customize abilities and weapon loadouts across diverse terrains. With DLSS 3 and Reflex, GeForce RTX 40-series gamers should enjoy higher frame rates and reduced system latency for more responsive gameplay. During the Steam Summerfest, Tribes 3: Rivals is on sale.
All of the above titles use Nvidia’s latest GeForce Game Ready Driver. Nvidia says this not only delivers a great day-one experience for titles including The First Descendant, but it also gets your system ready for the latest DLSS 3 updates, like the one coming to Payday 3. Additionally, there is support for four new Optimal Playable Setting profiles. Nvidia says the First Descendant GeForce Game Ready Driver is available now.
