Intel maxes their data center GPUs

New branding for high-end chips and AIBs

Alas, poor Ponte Vecchio, we knew you hardly at all. At the super-duper computer conference (SC22) in Dallas this week, Intel rolled out its new branding scheme. Intel likes branding schemes and comes up with a new one almost every year. For a recent example, you may recall the various names the Arc consumer AIBs went through (including Iris, Battlemage, DG1, DG2). Intel’s new Max series GPU, which was code-named Ponte Vecchio, has two segments of Xe GPU cores, plus eight HBM2e controllers, and 16 Xe links.
