Graphics shipments in Q2 increased 2.5% over last quarter

A new issue of Market Watch has been released today and we are reporting a 2.5% increase in GPU shipments over last quarter. Market Watch gives market share (in units) of all suppliers of graphics chips, integrated, embedded, and discrete worldwide and can be downloaded HERE by subscribers.

NASA uses NVIDIA 3D Vision glasses to see Mars in 3D

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) that controls the rover Curiosity is using NVIDIA 3D Vision glasses to see Mars in 3D and plan rover missions in a virtual, game-like environment. JPL developed the technique to account for the unique challenge in controlling a vehicle 352 million miles away. Read more on Curiosity HERE.

New extensions for Maya and 3ds Max automate workflow

Autodesk will soon release new extensions for Autodesk Maya 2013 and Autodesk 3ds Max 2013 that will help users create more sophisticated physical simulations, and move data more easily through complex pipelines and also augments the Particle Flow system. Siggraph has released the official trailer promoting it’s Computer Animation Festival. This year’s selections will be featured during the conference through a series of daily Festival Screenings, allowing attendees to get a glimpse behind the making of computer-generated effects, visualizations, and animations. Siggraph 2012 to showcase advancements in real-time graphics
