Asus ROG unveils BIG gaming tech

Includes laptops, desktops, and external GPUs with latest processors.

We expect certain companies to roll out a bevy of new products at CES, and Asus ROG did just that, with their stated mission of “redefining the future of gaming.” To this end, the company announced a lineup of gaming laptops, desktops, and external GPUs that take advantage of the latest processors and graphics cards—in its effort to redefine the future of gaming.

In a virtual event for CES 2025, Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) announced new additions to its gaming lineup that span gaming laptops and desktops that are powered by the latest processors from Intel and AMD. The company also announced external GPUs. All the offerings are engineered to level up gaming and creative performance.

The 2025 ROG Strix SCAR 16/18 laptop series have Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processors featuring 24 cores and 32 threads and TDP of 65W. The series also has up to Nvidia RTX 5090 laptop GPUs for a big kick in AI horsepower and graphics fidelity. Keeping them cool when the action heats up is ROG’s Intelligent Cooling technology, along with Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal on both the CPU and GPU. The Strix SCAR offerings are fast, with Nvidia DLSS 4, up to 64GB of DDR5-5600 RAM and up to 2TB PCIe Gen4 SSD, all of which are reflective of the laptops’ sleek new design. Complementing the laptops is an ROG Nebula HDR display, with a 2.5K Mini-LED panel and 240 Hz refresh rate.

The ROG Strix G16/G18 laptop models feature up to AMD Ryzen 9955HX3D or Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processors. The devices are paired with up to Nvidia RTX 5080 laptop GPUs and boast up to 32GB of DDR5 5600 MHz RAM for efficiently handling resource-intensive applications. On the visual front, they also come with a Nebula display providing a 3ms response time.

Also built with performance and portability in mind are the Zephyrus G14/G16 ultra-thin laptops and the 2025 Flow Z13 2-in-1 tablet powered by up to AMD’s newest chiplet-based  Ryzen AI Max+ 395, all sporting an ROG Nebula display. The G16 is equipped with up to the latest Intel Core Ultra 9 285H, while the G14 comes with up to an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, and up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPUs.

The Zephyrus G14, which is a Copilot+ PC, features a Nebula OLED display with a 3K 120 Hz refresh rate and 0.2ms response time. The G16 features a 2.5K Nebula OLED display with a 240 Hz refresh rate and similar response time. And, the Z13 has a 2.5K Nebula 180 Hz touch screen display.

Not overlooking the desktop, ROG also is offering the G700 series, designed for gaming and equipped with up to Intel Core Ultra 9 285K or AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processors and up to Nvidia RTX 5090 GPUs. Both support up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM, with speeds up to 6,000 MHz. The series is built for durability as well as aesthetics, the company says. The desktops will be available for purchase this quarter.

Also, ROG announced the 2025 ROG XG Mobile, a compact, external graphics card with a lighter, sleeker design and featuring up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPUs and Thunderbolt 5 connectivity.

During its CES event, ROG again highlighted the Phone 9 series, which had been revealed earlier but can be ordered now. The ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro models, which come with an AniMe Vision Mini-LED auxiliary display, are infused with ROG-developed AI-driven gaming features powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform.
