TIBURON, Calif. – Jon Peddie Research has just released its annual GPU developments report. It is a summary of GPU developments for 2022 and includes announcements by the leading GPU suppliers. Although we think it is thorough, we do not claim it to be exhaustive of every announcement made by the suppliers.

The information is presented in chronological order by quarter.

The AIB market hit $20 billion in the first three quarters of 2022. Some of the disturbances in 2022 were:

AMD introduced its RDNA3 GPU product line, putting AMD back in the high-end segment.

Intel introduced its Xe GPU-based Arc A750 and A770 AIBs.

Nvidia rolled out two versions of its Lovelace GPUs, the RTX 4090 and 4080.

Qualcomm announced a new Snapdragon SoC with a real-time ray-tracing GPU.

Apple surprised a few people with their new SoC and GPU announcement.

The number of GPU suppliers increased to 18; however, Department of Commerce rules may slow down some of them.

The GPU is ubiquitous and can be found in almost every device and system imaginable. All the developments and associated events are in this report.

The 318-page report, which includes 54 tables and 245 figures and illustrations, is available now for $995.
