Export restrictions on high-performance AI accelerators to China have been promptly enforced, affecting Nvidia’s A100, A800, H100, H800, and L40S products. These restrictions, initiated by the Biden Administration, aim to limit exports of GPUs and AI accelerators to countries of concern, particularly China. Nvidia’s more powerful consumer GPUs, like the RTX 4090, aren’t included in these restrictions. However, it’s reported that orders from Chinese tech giants, worth billions of dollars, may now go unfulfilled due to these export rules. Intel and AMD may also be impacted by similar restrictions.
