Intel’s R&D-to-sales ratio outpaces all others

If Intel spins off its fab, its R&D ratio may drop.

Intel’s R&D-to-sales ratio increased to 27.18% on revenue of $14.26 billion, up from 25.89% the previous year. Competitors AMD and Nvidia reported ratios of 22.35% and 9.44%, respectively. Apple’s ratio was 8.44%. The variations in R&D investments reflect differences in business strategies, priorities, and market focus among these companies.Intel’s research and development (R&D) investment, relative to its revenue, has remained substantial as the company continues efforts to maintain and expand its competitive position. For the most recent period, Intel’s R&D-to-sales ratio stood at 27.18% on revenue of $14.26 billion, marking an increase from the previous year’s 25.89% on $15.4 billion
