MetaX Tech plans gaming GPU

Will use SMIC’s surprising 7nm process for the GPU, which it plans to have for the domestic market by 2025.

The company MetaX (known locally as 沐曦,or Mu Xi) already has two products under development: the MXN, a 7nm GPU for AI inferencing, which the company taped-out earlier this year, and the MXC, a GPU chip for more general GPU compute applications, which is in the final stages of R&D, with plans to start production in 2024.
